Outdoor & Adventurous Activities – INSET DAY
This specialist primary whole school INSET is aimed at schools who want to deliver and harness the incredible learning power of OAA. It aims to make primary staff more aware of the enormous potential of OAA to impact across whole school and pupil’s wider learning. It will establish a common and consistent rationale for its inclusion in delivering the national curriculum and for active learning.
The INSET day will provide teachers with a framework of activities which are age and stage appropriate to develop skills such as communication, negotiation, problem-solving, trust and collaboration. OAA can also make a significant contribution to pupil well-being and PSHE / SMSC.
Learning Objectives:
- To provide a rationale for the inclusion of OAA within the primary curriculum, establishing a common understanding of its potential impact
- To provide primary school staff with the confidence and competence to deliver OAA lessons / scheme of work their site
- To be able to plan OAA learning, evaluate its impact and assess pupil progress in and through OAA
- To align OAA activities where appropriate to enhance the learning prior to or after a residential experience
