Teaching & Inspiring Dance
A MUST for all those teachers who worry about teaching this area of activity!
Dance has perhaps the most significant potential to impact whole school and upon learning for the individual. Sadly most teachers feel inadequately trained and supported to be confident and competent in teaching it effectively within the primary school. The PE and sport premium is there to help upskill staff and provide colleagues with the training and support they need. Staff audits invariably highlight dance as an area for development – would this be the case in YOUR school? If so book now!.
This course is aimed at upskilling staff and raising their confidence and competence to teach it. Delivered by our Trusted Partners – Slanted Dance, this day will build your confidence, offer totally practical and useful approaches to develop dance across your school and in your teaching.
The session’s objective is to help build confidence when delivering dance (EYFS-KS2) and will take you through the SESCC approach:
S = Starter (learning objectives and starter activity)
E = Energiser (warm up)
S = Skill Build (specific dance techniques, key movement skills and movement patterns)
C = Creative (freedom for personal expression/interpretation, performance and feedback)
C = Close (cool down, checking of learning and targets for next time)
Any theme or topic can be created using this format to ensure a safe, effective and engaging dance lesson, which will be explored throughout the CPD session.
