Description

This new course has been successfully delivered across School Sports Partnerships for schools to engage in looking at the core curriculum – that which every child receives. The session challenges schools to review and reflect upon what they currently provide, their curricular offer, and how it might develop to making it a curriculum which ‘inspires all to succeed and excel’ and to be one which is truly ambitious.

Delegates are also encouraged to look at how PE can/does contribute to their whole schools aims, vision, values etc. Finding learning hooks on which to hang learning in and through PE, cross-curricular work and school improvement. It will also afford time to look at creating your own vision – your jigsaw box picture of what outstanding PE at your school will look like. Then you can look more specifically at the pieces that you need to put in and where – in order to create your Vision.

Take time to consider the context of your school, the needs of the pupils and how, in the words of the national curriculum you will help to ensure not only two hours a week (or more) of high quality PE but a curriculum which inspires all to succeed and excel. With practical examples, open discussion, reflection and a deeper look at what outstanding PE provision can look like, delegates have found this course of great use.

  • ‘Informative and knowledgeable, lots of ideas going forward which will be of benefit to the school’s PE offer. This has made us evaluate our school’s practice and consider how we can improve our PE provision.’ J. Craven / N. Lockheart, Daresbury Primary School, Runcorn. MAT / Federation of Schools
  • ‘Made me think really hard about why? This session made me think really critically about the subject and the confidence not to over-think assessment.’ – Emily Watts – Southend SSP (10/3/23)

Taking into account many aspects of the curriculum from assessment, pedagogical approaches, curriculum design – to the three pillars of progression and the ‘E’s ‘ of the extended curriculum!

When booking this session across a number of schools it can make a very cost effective piece of professional development at the same time as challenging schools to review and reflect upon their provision for primary PE.

This session was engaging, informative and specific. I took away the purpose of assessment and how to put it in place at my school. All thye content was relevant and useful. – Louise Saville, Thorpedene Primary – Southend SSP Day

  2. Martin Radmore

“Engaging and detailed – excellent subject knowledge. 2 take aways from the session- the VisionED Files and assessment – keeping it simple!”
Bethan Mountier, Hinguar Primary – Southend SSP Day

  3. Martin Radmore

I would recommend the session as it was ‘very clear and concise, lots of useful info.’ What worked best for me was looking at setting up of an assessment procedure across the school as well as ‘review what we do to engage and help children’
Chris Gibson – St. Helen’s Catholic Primary – Southend SSP Day

  4. Martin Radmore

It really got me thinking about how to make things more effective to develop pupils so that they can achieve their optimum. What worked best about the session for me was ‘allowing time to think and talk about our schools, to think of relevant next steps whilst it is in our heads. ‘ I will take away ‘looking at other subjects to explore how PE can be involved more cross0curricular and to look at FIT principle and use it to evaluate PE currently’ – Joscelyn Foster, Brampton CE Primary – North Suffolk SSP Day, February 2023

  5. Martin Radmore

Really relevant, supportive delivery that makes you challenge and improve own practice. I will take away ‘ the need to talk with EYFS lead, make links / work together with other subjects.’ – Suzanne Minns – Dell Primary – North Suffolk SSP Day

  6. Martin Radmore

I would recommend this session because ‘it gives a LOT of things to think about and will lead to it having a direct impact upon the pupils. ‘ What worked best for me ‘was having the time to think about a specific aspect of our curriculum with colleagues’. I will take away and ‘review our long-term plan in terms of what units we put there and why and think about how PE fits into the whole school vision and aims’. – Helen George, Ringsfield Primary – North Suffolk SSP
