Outdoor & Adventurous Activities Course – on the primary school site
This specialist one day course is aimed at all those who teach PE in and across the primary phase. It aims to make you more aware of the enormous potential of OAA to impact across the whole school improvement agenda and also pupil’s wider learning.
The day will provide teachers, HLTA’s, TA’s and school-based staff with a framework of activities which are age and stage appropriate to develop skills such as communication, negotiation, problem-solving, trust and collaboration. OAA can also make a significant contribution to pupil well-being and PSHE / SMSC.
- To provide a rationale for the inclusion of OAA within the primary curriculum, establishing a common understanding of its potential impact
- To provide primary school staff with the confidence and competence to deliver OAA lessons / scheme of work their site
- To be able to plan OAA learning, evaluate its impact and assess pupil progress in and through OAA
- To align OAA activities where appropriate to enhance the learning prior to or after a residential experience
Designed to improve outcomes for pupils and levels of competence and confidence in staff this course is ideally placed to help schools meet the requirements of the PE and Sport Premium. It also builds resilience and capacity within the school staff making sustainability of developments more likely – a key demand of the conditions of grant for PE Premium funding.
