National PE Teaching Competence Standards (NPETCS)

STARTS: 5 July 2019 Induction Day

This National Qualification course is highly suitable for TA’s, Teachers (QTS) and specialist sports coaches (PPA providers). It is a perfect mix of practical and theory components delivered over an academic year to ensure collaborative and sustained learning for YOU the delegate. No examinations, no essays, school-based learning for the main part which allows you to develop over time becoming more confident and competent. Written by us and accredited through Gateway Qualifications. This course is highly recommended in achieving impact within the primary school setting.

This course is delivered over an extended period to facilitate the national qualification with 10 days out of school attending tutor-led sessions covering all areas of activity (eg. Gym, Dance, OAA etc.), risk management, assessment, group management, teaching and learning styles, inclusion, differentiation and rationale behind the importance of PE.

Primary schools can and should use their PE Premium to access this national qualification (level 3) which is aimed at supporting the delivery of high quality PE. It Allows TA’s / HLTA’s to be deployed to teach PE, teachers (QTS) to gain confidence and sports coaches to understand national curriculum and physical education.

  • Allows sports coaches and others to be deployed
  • Increases teachers (QTS) confidence and competence to teach high quality PE – boosting impact and complying with National Key Indicator 3
  • Provides a framework for competence to teach PE
  • Covers all practical areas of activity (except swimming)

This qualification was written by Martin Radmore and has gained significant success in Norfolk and elsewhere as well as national recognition. The course remains the same qualification, but all the material has been updated and added to, reflecting the new funding for PE, emphasis on impact, physical literacy, EYFS, health, new national agendas, assessment, well-being and new health and safety.

“We use and deploy our specialist PE trained staff to great effect here at Mile Cross Primary and I can vouch from sustained personal experience for the quality of the training and the impact of those qualified. We are training two more this year to ensure a real sustainable legacy as well as high standards for our pupils. I am an advocate for what VisionED is offering”

Stuart Allen – Headteacher, Mile Cross Primary – an Outstanding Primary School in Norwich.

Delivered over 10 modules, this course reflects the revised Quality Standards for Teacher Professional Development (2016) as the course is both collaborative and sustained, is underpinned by robust evidence (externally verified) and expertise and focuses upon the outcomes for pupils. The modules cover every aspect of teaching high quality PE in a modern primary school (except swimming).

The doubled PE Premium has been confirmed for 2019-20 now and this course represents an opportunity for schools to build resilience, capacity and most of all sustainability. The course is fully compliant with all the requirements of the national funding grant conditions and will support schools in obtaining the national Quality Mark Award. This course is also significantly cheaper than other providers ensuring best value and allowing greater flexibility to spend premium upon pupils.

“The VisionED PE course truly is one of a kind! From day one you are made to feel extremely comfortable and expectations are made clear from the start. Each module has proven to be fun, informative, useful and a hit with the kids! The course itself is led by a passionate, enthusiastic and incredibly knowledgeable leader, who is always on board to offer assistance and help in any way possible.
From early years right through to upper KS2, the course is tailored to individual needs and provides high quality learning that you can bring to any lesson.
The course itself helps staff to lead varied, layered, inclusive and FUN lessons.
I have used many ideas from the different modules and incorporated them into my PE lesson at school. The children have responded brilliantly and get so much from it! Encouraging children to be active is a key entity and this course is full of fun and simple ideas that have such a huge and positive impact.
You gain so much from VisionED and it really is money well spent; children at my school are more engaged in their PE lessons and that’s from the innovative ideas from this course.
If you want your children to succeed and enjoy being active whilst having fun, then this is the course to be on.”

“I would definitely recommend the Teaching and Learning in Primary PE (L3) national qualification course to everyone who feels passionately about PE. I had already been teaching PE in my school when I started but having completed the course, I am far more confident in the way I plan and deliver my lessons making sure all children enjoy and take part in PE.

What I enjoyed most about the course was how Martin encouraged us all in a relaxed way, never putting us under undue pressure – therefore getting the most out of the group. The learning days were always fun and informative. It was also great to be with a group of people who were enthusiastic about PE and to be able to share our experiences.

I would do it all over again – I had a fantastic time, thank you Martin.”
